Coventry Airport enhances its facilities for passengers

with new Horizons Café Bar and Restaurant

Coventry Airport has signed a three-year contract with Nuneaton-based Skypartners to manage and run its new Horizons café, a development that will further enhance the airport experience for departing travellers.

Skypartners, which operates the existing facilities at Coventry Airport, has commenced the new contract with immediate effect. A brand new landside Horizons Café Bar and Restaurant will be developed over the coming months, as well as a new Destinations Buy & Fly retail outlet, incorporating newspapers and magazines, travel pharmaceuticals, fragrances and cosmetics, a duty free range, electrical, fashion, toys and more. Skypartners will also design new airside catering and retail facilities.

The cafés will offer a wide variety of hot and cold food and an extensive range of beverages, including beers, wines and spirits, in a relaxed atmosphere. For the departing holidaymaker it will provide the perfect opportunity to start to unwind and for the business traveller, Horizons will offer refreshments around the clock with a range of reading material, plus confectionary and gifts.

Skypartners’ new facilities are part of a much bigger development programme being implemented at the airport. During the past year the management has put in place an extensive forward thinking development plan. To date almost £10m has been invested in improvements to the Midlands’ airport. The management team remains confident that it will get the necessary approval to go ahead with the construction of a new terminal, which will increase the capacity for passenger throughput from 0.98 million to two million passengers per annum.

“We are delighted to have the opportunity to further develop our excellent working relationship with Skypartners and to expand and upgrade the catering facilities available to our passengers,” said Chris Orphanou, Coventry Airport’s CEO. “We are keen to improve our amenities wherever possible to make Coventry the airport of choice for passengers and airline partners alike.”

“We are especially pleased to have renewed the contract to run the catering and dining services for Coventry Airport, as it’s where we began our operations three years ago,” said Skypartners’ Managing Director Marc Bond. “Passengers will really notice the difference when they fly, whether they want a quick cappuccino or a hearty hot meal. We will continue to work with Midlands’ suppliers and as with all our Horizons outlets, this one will be staffed and managed locally.”
