Passenger power has prevailed at Coventry Airport

14th September 2004

...as a much requested licensed bar has been installed in the airport departure lounge.

The new bar will be welcomed by travellers through the airport as it is the facility that thousands of passengers requested at the airport through Thomsonfly.com's customer service questionnaires and Coventry Airport feedback forms.

The licensed bar is accessible to all departing passengers from 11am until 11pm stocked with a range of beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks.

Jayne Gittins from Nottingham, travelling on business a group of work colleagues to a Fabric Fair in Pisa, said: "An airport should definitely have a bar - when we arrived at the airport we thought we would be lucky to get a cup of tea but I am really surprised - of course the airport is small but it's great."

Mike Chapman from Stanford in Lincolnshire commented, "We have a boat in Pisa so have travelled four or five times this summer as it's so convenient, it's much more civilised now the airport has a bar."

Maureen Barnes from Warwick, heading on holiday to Majorca, said: "I'm not a big drinker but after all the getting ready for my holiday it's nice to relax with a glass of wine and get into holiday mode."

The bar complements the additional facilities in the airport lounge - the Dakota Diner which serves hot and cold drinks and food and the Brands shop which offers a range of perfumes, make up, electrical items, toys, games, books and newspapers.
