Coventry Airport In Line For Top Award
16th August 2004
Coventry Airport is in the running for a prestigious award in recognition of its positive approach to the employment of disabled people.
The UK's newest and best-located international airport has made the shortlist for the eighth annual Remploy Leading the Way Awards - UK's premier prizes for those companies and organisations that offer employment opportunities to disabled people and value the positive contribution they can make.
It has been shortlisted after meeting a number of strict criteria relating to the way it recruits and trains its disabled employees in addition to the support and opportunities it provides them.
Bill Savage, Managing Director, of Coventry Airport, said: "We are delighted to have been shortlisted for these awards. Our disabled employees are highly valued members of the team and this nomination is testament to their hard work and commitment."
Steve Jepson, regional co-ordinator for the Remploy Leading the Way Awards, said: "The standard of entries this year has been extremely high and for Coventry to make the shortlist proves they must be doing something right."
A panel of judges will now assess the shortlisted companies and pick the winners ahead of the regional final at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens and Glasshouses in September.
The winners of that event will go forward to the national final where Kate Nash, Chief Executive of disability umbrella group RADAR, will present the awards.
