The Sky Is The Limit At Coventry Airport

We are now into the school holidays but many parents are already looking for new ideas of how to entertain the kids and have fun. Coventry Airport has provided some suggestions, to suit a range of budgets, for parents wanting the school holidays to really take off.

Free - Children love to see the aircraft taking off and landing - Coventry Airport has a range of aircraft operating from light aircraft to Dakotas now used for cargo and Boeing 737-500 passenger aircraft. The aircraft can be observed taking off and landing from the perimeter of the airport - please ensure that you park legally and safely.

Under £5 - 84 (Coventry Airport) Squadron - Air Cadets offers 13 - 20 year olds a range of activities and meets weekly at the airport. The "Air Cadets" offers the chance to take part in a huge and diverse range of exciting and challenging activities including flying, gliding, sport, adventure training, camping, drill and much more. Under £5 - Midland Air Museum on Rowley Road includes exhibits ranging from the magnificent Avro Vulcan bomber through more than 30 other historic aircraft, both civil and military, aero engines and other artefacts, to a wide variety of memorabilia.

The museum is particularly proud of its heritage centre dedicated to the memory of Sir Frank Whittle, the Coventry-born engineer who designed the jet engine which made modern high-speed aircraft and economical air travel possible. Under £40 - Jersey is only a short flight away and is a great destination for a short break for families, the beaches, zoo, attractions and areas to explore will enable the kids to spend some of that boundless energy. For £60 - If the school holidays leave the parents needing some time out and a change of scenery what better for the adults that a trial flight lesson. A pre-flight briefing on the workings of the aircraft and what exercises will be completed in the air precedes the flight, in which the trial flyer takes the pilot seat of a Cessna 152 for a thirty minute flight.
